A Little About Myself

My Name is Scott Wittrock, I am a senior currently attending Waseca High School. I will be graduating in May of 2005, then will be moving on to St. Cloud State University to pursue a career in video production. While in St. Cloud I will be majoring in Mass Communications and Theatre with a minor in Business. After college I am planning on starting my own video business, mainly as a person for hire, doing weddings, concerts, festivals, and commercials for local businesses. My dream would to someday make it to Hollywood and work on a feature film, and one day direct a feature film of my own.

I got my start working with video during my sophomore year in high school when I bought my first video camera. My friends and I made a five minute long music video to one of our favorite songs. Since then I have taken up numerous other video projects including school projects, family vacations, and even three weddings (More Details below). I am also involved in the high school Drama club, working the lighting, and am Student Coordinator of the Choir Technical Crew.

Experience

  1. Videos
    • Student Produced Week Audition Tape - This is a good example of what I can do with a camera. I created this to apply for Channel One News Student Produced Week 2005. I took a Saturday off of work and spent the day creating this. All the camera work and editing was done by myself. (Length 2:23)
    • Craguns Family Vacation - This was my first full project, I took four hours of video from a week of camping with my relatives (all 80 of them), added music and cool titles, and created a 35 minute video showing the highlights of the week, to present at Christmas the following year. I also sold this DVD to anyone who wanted a copy, which required the mass production of about 20 copies all made within a 24-hour period.
    • Jeff and Lindsay's Wedding DVDs - My brother got married on August 27, 2005, he asked me to do the filming for this special day. In the end they ended up with a two DVD set with customized DVD cases and all, including, their ceremony, videos from the grooms dinner, reception, and a few others from the weekend. Also included was a 14-minute slide show containing pictures from the weekend. All of these were edited down with music added in to add a little more to the video. (Length 2 hours)
    • Andy and Andrea's Wedding DVDs - My oldest brother also asked me to film his wedding for him on June 27, 2005. His final package included the ceremony and a video picture show(Here is a two minute snippit) from the weekend. (Length 30:00)
    • 60 Second Dates - This is a spoof on one of those dating shows. It was filmed in one day, and edited over the next couple of weeks. We used two cameras for this project, along with two editors, Janna Seliger and myself. We both had made home made movies in the past and thought we should do a combined feature, and this is the result. (Length 16:51)
    • Presidential Debates - This is another video I created with a group of my friends. Bush Vs. Kerry Vs. Nader Saturday Night Live Style. This is a 45 minute debate full with background music and even commercials! This was all filmed in my basement and was the first time I created a set and used lighting ffectively.(Length 45:00)
    • German Project - This production combined many different elements together to create a documentary about the day in the life of Andrew Wingen. It contains background music, sound effects, even a few video effects, and then on top of it all we recorded a comentary in german.
    • WWEFG Smack-Up - This is my current project that I am working on. The idea to have a wrestling match came from a friend of mine. From what was supposed to be a simple weekend project turned into a two week project including a full set which I built in my garage.
    • Fat Lip Music Video - I thought I might include this to show you how I have advanced in only two years. This is the FIRST video I had ever made, keep that in mind as you watch it. It was filmed on a digital camera that came on a MP3 player and edited on a program that was originally for music making.
  2. Drama/Plays
    • The Nerd - When I signed up for this play, my job was the lights, however by the time the curtain went up I had helped out with a little bit of everything, from designing the lighting, to arranging sound effects, to recording numerous answer machine messages, to even bricking the walls. When performance night came my knowledge of each area let me asist where needed and cue each tech part.
    • They Went Thataway - This was the first ever student directed play put on by the WHS. I Designed the lighting and ran the light board for this play.
    • Competion Piece, The Ugly Duckling/The Empirors New Clothes, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever - I got my start working with lights in the winter of 11th grade and into 12th Grade, working on these four plays.
    • Return to the Forbidden Planet - After seeing a demonstration of my computer abilities in class, I got recruited to do some special effects work. I created a View Screen like on Star Trek and filmed all the stuff that was put on it. Which included a monster, a crash landing, and even an exploding planet.
    • Dancing at Lughnasa - 10th Grade One Act Competition. I was just getting my feet wet with this play, I didn't know at the time that this could be the start of a career.
  3. Web Design
    • A Witty Production -This is my main site. This site is the home to my production studio, know as A Witty Production. I mainly use this site to distribute my videos that I create.
    • High School Drama Page - I created this as a project for an HTML class. The site is currently slightly under construction. Between projects I will work on it to keep it up to date.
    • The Befouled - I put this site together for a few friends of mine who created their own garage band. It is mostly used as a place to put picture and some recordings I do for them.
  4. Music Recordings
    • The Befouled - Requem En Terra Pax - This song was created by the band The Befouled. The guitar, bass, and drums were recorded in a friends garage. The vocals were recorded at my house and I did an overlay of the two tracks.
    • My Guarantee and My One Bad Day both by Brad Coulombe - These were written and played by Brad Coulombe. We recorded them in my basement with one mic and him playing his guitar and singing at the same time. Nothing too fancy but it was a start, and gave me a feel for what it is like to record music.
